Create “Uncategorized” Category

When we create a transfer within a tracking account to/from a budget account, the automatically created ledger in the budget account is categorized under “Ready to Budget”. Can there be an option where system-generated ledgers in budget accounts be uncategorized first so it’s easy to see what new transactions need attention.

Agree with other comment. I want to leave uncategorized until I can verify with spouse. I totally understand not being able to approve a transaction without a category. Until approval though, I would strongly prefer an uncategorized option that stands out rather than just “Ready to Budget”.

It already defaults to Needs Category while not approved (when a transaction is imported from bank sync and the payee has no matching category)

Hi Pedro, thank you for responding. However, I don’t think this is the ask. The problem we’re having is that when we create a manual transfer entry in a tracking account to/from a budget account, the system-generated entry in the budget account should be uncategorized or “needs category”. Not doing so can make it easy to overlook budgeting mistakes, which we don’t want if we want a picture of our finances that’s as truthful as possible.

An uncategorized option to manually add a transaction which shows the overspending like YNAB does would also be helpful for transactions made by my spouse on a credit/debit card, or when a Venmo/PayPal transfer hits the checking account etc.

I usually want to add the transaction payee and amount and leave it uncategorized until I can ask my spouse what it was for so I can categorize it.
