Keep the typed / (slash) show up as a slash instead of changing to a division sign

It can be difficult to tell the difference between the ÷ and - when typed in the small boxes. If a slash is typed, I’d like it to remain a slash but still function as divide, and of course if someone wants to type ÷ it should come up as what they typed, ÷.
